2026 GMC Sierra EV vs Chevy Silverado EV

Two Electric Giants, One Dealership

At Chesrown Chevrolet of Sidney, we are in the unique position of offering both of General Motors’ premiere electric trucks: the 2026 GMC Sierra EV and the 2026 Chevy Silverado EV. While they share the same Ultium battery platform, they appeal to very different buyers. The Silverado EV is often the choice for value-focused work fleets, while the Sierra EV offers a higher level of premium refinement and exclusive off-road technology.

The Core Differences

The Silverado EV features a “unibody-style” design with flying buttress pillars behind the cab, giving it a futuristic, aerodynamic look. The Sierra EV maintains a more traditional, boxy truck profile that many Shelby County traditionalists prefer.

The Sierra EV, especially in the Denali trim, uses open-pore wood, quilted leather, and a more sophisticated dashboard layout. The Silverado EV RST is sporty, but the Sierra aims for “Professional Grade” luxury.

While both trucks have 4-wheel steering, the GMC Sierra EV AT4 features CrabWalk, which allows the truck to drive diagonally at low speeds. The Silverado EV Trail Boss is capable, but CrabWalk is a GMC-exclusive party trick that is genuinely useful on tight trails.

Shared Strengths: The MidGate

Both trucks feature the revolutionary MidGate, which allows you to fold down the rear wall of the cabin. This expands the bed length from just under 6 feet to nearly 11 feet with the tailgate down. This means you can haul standard drywall, lumber, or even a kayak inside the vehicle while keeping it secure.
